Custom Foot Orthotics
What are Custom Orthotics?
Custom foot orthotics are medical devices designed to control alignment and function of the foot in order to treat or prevent injury-causing motions as a result of faulty biomechanics. They assist making activities such as running, walking, and other sports related activities more efficient. Pain or injury may occur in another parts of the body is a result of the way your foot strikes the ground. Custom orthotic therapy is what you might seek in search of a biomechanical solution to pain relief not only in the foot, but perhaps the knee, hip, or spine.
The Fabrication Process:
Orthotic therapy first begins with a lower extremity biomechanical examination, which includes the evaluation and of the following:
- Posture
- Joint mobility of the hip, knee, and ankle/foot
- Muscle performance testing
- Gait Analysis
Next, a neutral position impression of your feet created with casting material or direct mold materials. Lastly, all the information from the evaluation is utilized to create a custom orthotic device.
